The RIVMA Companion Animal Foundation (CAF) provides qualified, low-income owners with financial assistance to reduce the cost of their pets’ wellness visits and treatment for illness and injury.
The mission of the CAF is to ensure that all pets have access to compassionate veterinary care. Established in 2004, the CAF is the first veterinary-based assistance program in the nation.
Below is a list of community support programs and services we provide to pet owners and how to access them:
Rhode Island residents can apply for a $125 voucher for general veterinary care. Please Note: The CAF voucher program is NOT meant for emergency, urgent or next-day appointments.
If an applicant is approved, a voucher for $125 will be mailed to the applicant along with a list of practices that accept CAF Vouchers.
Vouchers must be presented at the time of service to one of the veterinary practices that accepts CAF vouchers. The voucher will be applied to the bill.
A voucher must be used within 60 days. If a voucher expires, the recipient can contact CAF to have the voucher re-issued.
Qualifications:
· Rhode Island resident, over 18 years of age.
· Have an income at or below 150% of the federal poverty guidelines. Or Receive one (or more) of the following: SNAP (Food Assistance), Medicaid, Rite Care, CCAP (Child Care Assistance), Section 8/ Rental Assistance, WIC, RI Works (Cash Assistance), SSI, SSDI, TDI, LIHEAP (Fuel Assistance)
Limited to one voucher, per pet, per calendar year (up to two pets per household).
