The Providence Animal Control Division protects the health and safety of our residents and their pets with progressive leadership and education and continues to engage the hearts and minds of the community to help all animals.
When grant or sponsor money is available, any resident of Providence can have their cat spayed or neutered for free under the “Gimme Shelter Program.” Transportation is available for those who cannot drive. All cats participating in the program are microchipped, and there is no means-testing for cat guardians. Owned cats and feral cats are the stars of this program. If health concerns are discovered during the pre-surgical exam, care for those concerns is often provided.
