Founded in 1870, the Rhode Island SPCA is the oldest nonprofit animal welfare organization in the state of Rhode Island and the third oldest in the country. We provide adoption and rehoming services, full service veterinary care, humane education, training support and pet owner assistance programs. The Rhode Island SPCA is also the only organization in the state that can legally investigate and prosecute cases of animal cruelty and neglect and takes an active role in legislative matters concerning the welfare of all animals in our state.
Now centrally located in Warwick, Rhode Island, our Adoption & Education Center runs under the same roof as our full service Animal Health Center. We offer tiered pricing for those that qualify for our low cost veterinary services, as well as a scope of services for full paying clients. To apply for tiered pricing, please fill out this application. Low income pricing is offered for Rhode Island residents only.

Through the Marvin Fund, we offer additional financial assistance to limited-income pet parents who otherwise could not afford to care for them. Friends of Animals in Need now acts as the administrator of this fund. If you need financial assistance for veterinary care for your pet and have already received an estimate for services, please contact them at 401-489-3645. We strive to keep pets and the people that cherish them together.
This program is designed for pet owners experiencing financial hardship with the goal of keeping pets in their current homes. Through recent donations, we are able to provide free dog and cat food to households that may be in need of temporary assistance.
If you are in need of assistance, please stop by during our open hours.
Please note: Our Pet Food Pantry shelves are stocked solely by donations and supplies are limited. Food is available on a first come, first served basis.
A request form can be completed online prior to your visit, or in person.
